Salt covered rocks at the Dead Sea

2 or 4 handful of sea salt  in your bath water can -

encourage the whole body to detoxify

stimulate the circulation – improving health

helps treat athlete’s foot, and any hard patches on the feet are softened

relaxes tense, aching muscles and joints

helps relieve arthritis and rheumatism

draws out impurities of the skin, soothing skin irritations like psoriasis/eczema

eases generally tired aching bodies

deep relaxation, relieving tension and stress

Adding to your sea salt bath some herbs and/or essential oils would enhance the healing properties and experience.

To add herbs from the garden or from the kitchen pantry  – place a bundle of the herbs in a piece of cloth like unbleached loosely woven cotton muslin or cheese cloth, gather up the ends and tight it up with a string. Place into the sea salt bath water like a tea bag and leave soak.

Herbs that can be used in your bundle of cloth tied securely, for aches and pains – rosemary, thyme, and bay, for aches and pains. Sip some ginger tea.

For me I like to add essential oils to my bathtub a long with with sea salt. I find them more effective than adding herbs. Only 8 drops of pure essentials are needed for a bath tub, making sure you agitate the water to disperse the essential oils be you get into the tub.

Research shows that the therapeutic properties from essential oils can enter the blood stream in as little as 20 to 30 minutes. For aches and pains – essential oils like basil, lavender and rosemary can help.

Play some soothing music, light some candles, relaxing and de-stressing, helps the body to produce the right chemicals that help with pain and inflammation.

It is better to have these types of baths later in the day after a day work or on your days off, if you do all of this first thing in the morning you’ll not want to go to work.
