As we get older our bodies tend to release more chemicals known as cytokines, they encourage degeneration, inflammation and pain. These are all typical of arthritis type conditions. Research has revealed that taking DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) found in fish oil can suppress the release of these cytokines. DHA is an omega-3 essential fatty acid.
Flaxseeds also known as linseeds, these seeds are especially medicinal as they contain about 40% alpha-linolenic acid. If you are an arthritis suffer you will gain more flexibility from this oil than from any other oils derived from seeds or nuts.
In second place would be oil from walnuts but this only has about 10% alpha-linolenic acid.
Most people think of linseed oil for their wood. That’s right linseed oil gives life to dull wood and helps to preserve it. In the same way linseed will give life to a dull body and help to preserve it. It will give flexibility to cells, enabling them to function better. This allows communication between the cells by the production of prostaglandins and encourages a reduction in inflammation and pain.
IMPORTANT only consume linseeds (flaxseeds) and its oil that is fit for human consumption.

Wild Salmon verses Farmed Salmon Wild salmon per 100 grams of flesh contains about 6.5% omega-3 fatty acid, with a total amount of 6 grams of fat. Farmed salmon per 100 grams will contain about 0.80% omega-3 fatty acid, with a total amount of 11 grams of fat. This is a perfect example of ‘You are what you eat’. The diets of the wild salmon are very different from those fed in captivity. In other words farmed fish are fatter but have less ‘essential fatty acids’, the unhealthy cousin. |
Are you getting enough ‘essential nutrients’ to maintain equilibrium between inflammation and anti-inflammation? Between suffering or leading a quality life?
